[WATCH]- Mohammed Shami Cleans Up Brydon Carse With A Stunner In IND vs ENG 1st ODI 2025

India’s star pacer Mohammed Shami struck for the first time in the ongoing first ODI against England in Nagpur on Thursday, February 6, by dismissing Brydon Carse. Carse managed just 10 runs before being bowled, leaving England struggling at 206/7 with over 10 overs remaining in the innings.

The breakthrough came in the 40th over when Shami delivered a length ball on off-stump. Carse attempted to heave it to the leg side but only managed a faint edge before the ball crashed into his stumps. It was a classic “you-miss-I-hit” dismissal, with the off and middle stumps sent flying. You can watch the video here:

Shami is featuring in his first ODI since the 2023 World Cup final. The Bengal pacer is just four wickets away from reaching the 200-wicket milestone in ODIs and has a total of 452 international wickets across formats.

He recently delivered an impressive performance in the T20I series against England, particularly in the fifth match, where he took 3/25. His efforts helped India secure a massive 150-run victory and seal the series 4-1. At 34, the experienced pacer remains a key figure in India’s plans for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

“He’s Not Ready Yet” – Aakash Chopra Questions Mohammed Shami’s Fitness for Champions Trophy

Aakash Chopra praised Mohammed Shami ahead of the Champions Trophy but raised concerns about his fitness, emphasizing Shami’s key role for India with Jasprit Bumrah’s participation uncertain. He shared his views on his YouTube channel (via Indian Express):

“Four fast bowlers should have 100 percent been there (in the Champions Trophy squad) because whatever we have seen of Mohammed Shami, he did take three wickets in the last match for sure and bowled decently, but he is far from ready.”

“I am not hearing great news about Bumrah’s fitness. However, I won’t believe in hearsay, and won’t share what I heard either,” he added.
