Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali has expressed frustration over what he perceives as selective treatment from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). In a recent discussion, Hasan questioned why star batter Saim Ayub, who is currently sidelined with a right ankle fracture, was sent to London for treatment while other injured players may not receive similar privileges.
Ayub has been out of action since the tour of South Africa last month and will not be participating in the upcoming Champions Trophy. While Hasan hopes for Ayub’s quick recovery, he pointed out the disparity in PCB’s approach to player injuries, recalling how he had suffered multiple injuries without receiving any special treatment from the board.
Disparity in Treatment for Injured Players
Hasan highlighted the difference in how Ayub’s injury was handled compared to his own experience. He questioned the PCB’s decision to provide exclusive care for Ayub, asking whether future injured players would receive the same level of attention.
“Wasn’t I a member of the team in 2020? If another player gets injured, won’t he be a member of the team? Does he play for India?” he remarked. Hasan’s comments reflect his belief that the PCB’s actions are inconsistent, and he expressed concern that Ayub might not receive the same support in the future if he suffers another injury.
Praise for Saim Ayub and Pakistan’s Bowling Attack
Despite his criticism of the PCB’s favoritism, Hasan acknowledged Saim Ayub’s talent, and former Australia captain Ricky Ponting echoed similar sentiments. Ponting praised Ayub as a “high-quality” cricketer, emphasizing that his absence would leave a significant gap for Pakistan.
Ponting also spoke highly of Pakistan’s fast bowling unit, particularly Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah, calling them “terrific” in the ongoing ODI Tri Series. With the right combination of players, Ponting believes Pakistan has the potential to become a formidable team on the international stage.
