Mumbai Indians Pacer Wreaks Havoc with Five-Wicket Haul Against Central Railways

Deepak Chahar, Mumbai Indians’ newest bowling sensation, recently made headlines with his stellar performance in the DY Patil tournament. Taking a five-wicket haul against Central Railways, he showcased his bowling prowess ahead of IPL 2025. With MI investing a whopping INR 9.25 crore in him, Chahar is proving his worth right before the season begins.

Mumbai Indians’ Big Investment in Chahar

After being released by Chennai Super Kings, Chahar found a new home in Mumbai Indians, who saw potential in his ability to swing the new ball and deliver crucial breakthroughs. Despite his injury concerns, MI took a calculated risk, and so far, it seems to be paying off.

Facing Central Railways, Chahar bowled an incredible spell of 3.4 overs, conceding just 21 runs while picking up five crucial wickets. His economy rate of 5.73 was exceptional, proving he is regaining his rhythm just in time for IPL 2025.

Deepak Chahar’s Impact in the Match

Chahar was instrumental in dismantling Central Railways’ batting lineup. He dismissed key players like Ajay Gigna, Eshaan Goyal, Sagar Jadhav, Vidyadhar Kamat, and Salil Agharkar, restricting the opposition to a modest total of 125 runs. He was well-supported by PSN Raju, who picked up three wickets, and Karn Sharma and Vignesh Puthur, who took one each.

Reliance 1 chased down the 126-run target in 19.2 overs, securing a three-wicket win. K.L. Shrijith’s composed 53-run knock and Raj Angad Bawa’s 28-run contribution played a crucial role in sealing the victory.

Deepak Chahar’s Road to IPL 2025

With such a fantastic display, Chahar is gaining much-needed confidence before IPL 2025. His match practice in competitive tournaments like DY Patil is crucial in ensuring he remains fit and in form.

Jasprit Bumrah’s Comeback

In another massive boost for MI, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has returned to training after recovering from a back injury. Having missed key series against England and the Champions Trophy, Bumrah’s return strengthens MI’s bowling attack ahead of the new season.

With Chahar’s ability to swing the ball and Bumrah’s sheer pace and accuracy, MI now boasts one of the most dangerous new-ball pairings. If both pacers remain fit, they could wreak havoc on opposition batting lineups.

MI’s Bowling Attack for IPL 2025

Apart from Chahar and Bumrah, MI has a strong pace unit, with backups like Jason Behrendorff and Arjun Tendulkar. Spin support from Piyush Chawla and Shams Mulani adds further depth. Chahar was a key performer for CSK in last season of IPL, often picking up wickets in the powerplay. If he replicates his success with MI, it will solidify their bowling unit significantly.
