Formidable former captain of the Chennai Super Kings, MS Dhoni, handed over the captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad just before the start of IPL 2024. This marked a new dawn for the five-time champions under the stewardship of Gaikwad. CSK finished fifth by the points table in a season of his maiden captaincy, missing an opportunity for the playoffs by a whisker.
