Mumbai Indians, one of the most successful franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has made a big change ahead of the 2025 season. Lizaad Williams was sold to the Mumbai Indians (MI) for Rs 75 lakh in the auctions. However, Williams won’t be able to participate in the upcoming season due to a knee injury.
While it is an unfortunate development from Williams, it has opened doors for Corbin Bosch. Bosch is a South African bowling all-rounder who will now play for MI in the upcoming season. Playing for MI would be a dream for most cricketers in the globe. It is one of the most strong franchises in the tournament.
It is worth noting that Williams had also missed out on the SA20 in January 2025 due to the same knee injury. Missing two major tournaments is definitely a set back for Williams, especially at the age of 31 where he doesn’t seem to have a long career left.
Bosch Will Play his First IPL
While Bosch has been a part of the IPL setup with the Rajasthan Royals in the recent past, he hasn’t played a single game yet. MI could be the first team he plays in the IPL for. With the kind of experience MI has in the dressing room, it will definitely be a great learning curve for Bosch and could potentially set rest of his career graph from here.
Bosch averages just 18.41 with the bat in the T20s according to data from CricInfo. As for the bowling, his economy is 8.38, which to be honest, isn’t very impressive. It will be interesting to see if MI utilises Bosch in any of the games or will it again be the same thing as in the past for the South African all rounder.
Mumbai Indians is set to play its first match of IPL 2025 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 23, 2025, in Chennai.
