MS Dhoni – India, ICC ODI World Cup, 2011

MS Dhoni’s innings against Sri Lanka in the 2011 ODI (One Day Internationals) World Cup final is something no Indian will ever forget. Dhoni scored an unbeaten 91 off 79 balls in the finals at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, and helped India lift the ODI World Cup after a span of 28 years. Dhoni was awarded man of the match award for his innings at this ICC tournament final.

Ricky Ponting – Australia, ICC ODI World Cup, 2003

Ricky Ponting scored an unbeaten 140 off 121 balls in the final against India on March 23, 2003. This helped Australia secure a win against India by 125 runs. The Aussies won by a huge margin, solidifying their stance as one of the best teams in the world at the time. Ponting’s innings secured him the player of the match award in the ICC tournament final.

Clive Loyd – West Indies, ODI World Cup, 1975

Clive Loyd scored 102 runs off 85 balls against Australia in the inaugural ODI World Cup final on June 21, 1975. This helped West Indies get a 17 run victory against Australia in the World Cup. West Indies was one of the hardest teams to beat at the time. Clive Loyd was adjudged player of the match for his innings.
