The 2025 IPL buildup has been overshadowed by injury concerns for key players like Jasprit Bumrah, Sanju Samson, and Mayank Yadav. According to a Cricbuzz report, Bumrah is expected to be available for Mumbai Indians’ first home game against Kolkata Knight Riders on March 31.
Bumrah has not played since suffering a back injury during the fifth Test against Australia in Sydney this January. He missed India’s 2025 Champions Trophy campaign and has been undergoing rehab at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
Initially, reports suggested he might miss Mumbai Indians’ early matches with no confirmed return date. However, the latest update indicates he could be back on March 31. As a result, Jasprit Bumrah will skip MI’s first two away games in Chennai (March 23) and Ahmedabad (March 29).
“Sources say that outgoing BCCI Sports Science chief Nitin Patel is personally monitoring the pacer, who is dealing with stress on his back, an ailment for which he underwent surgery in early 2023.”
“It is likely that Bumrah will be cleared by the end of the month, although it remains uncertain when exactly he will be able to don the Mumbai Indians colors,” the report reads.
Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson has recovered from a finger fracture sustained in the January T20I series against England. He has cleared his fitness test for batting but needs further tests to be cleared for wicketkeeping. Meanwhile, RR has backup keeper Dhruv Jurel, retained for ₹14 crore before the mega-auction.
Lucknow Super Giants Struggle with Pace Bowling Injuries Ahead of IPL 2025
LSG’s pace attack, featuring Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, and Avesh Khan, is dealing with injury concerns ahead of IPL 2025, starting on March 22. Retained pacer Mayank Yadav has been battling injuries since his IPL and international debut.
A back injury has kept him out since October, causing him to miss India’s T20I series against South Africa and England, along with domestic matches for Delhi.
Avesh Khan is recovering from a knee cartilage issue after Madhya Pradesh’s Ranji Trophy campaign, while Mohsin Khan is dealing with an undisclosed injury. Mohsin, last seen in the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy, was retained by LSG as an uncapped player after 24 appearances in three seasons.
