Punjab Kings (PBKS) posted a video on their social media handles on Monday, March 17, to officially welcome their captain, Shreyas Iyer, ahead of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). The 18th season of the highly anticipated tournament is set to commence on March 22.

The 30-year-old, who led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to the IPL title in 2024, decided to move on from the franchise before the 2025 mega auction. Punjab Kings secured his services for a massive INR 26.75 crore at the auction and later appointed him as their captain for the upcoming season.

With few days left for IPL 2025 to begin, PBKS shared a video on their official X account to announce their skipper’s arrival. You can watch the video here:

Shreyas Iyer played a crucial role in India’s triumph at the 2025 Champions Trophy, where they defeated New Zealand in the final on March 9 in Dubai. The Men in Blue clinched the title with a four-wicket win. Shreyas had an outstanding tournament, scoring 243 runs in five innings, including two fifties.
