Rahul Dravid values good cricket, no matter who plays it. During the 2025 IPL match between KKR and RR on Wednesday, 26 March, he was among the first to applaud when Quinton de Kock sealed KKR’s first win with a six off Jofra Archer.
The South African wicketkeeper-batter, who retired from ODIs and Tests at 31, played a stunning 97* off 61 balls with six sixes and eight fours, leading KKR to an eight-wicket win in Guwahati on Wednesday. After the match, Dravid, despite being on crutches, walked onto the field smiling, stopping de Kock before he crossed the boundary.

Before the match began, Rahul Dravid was seen in a wheelchair. The legendary Indian cricketer suffered a leg fracture before the IPL but remained actively involved to ensure Rajasthan Royals’ preparations stayed on track.

De Kock shines after KKR spinners tighten grip on RR
Despite retiring from Tests and ODIs for South Africa and facing uncertainty over his T20I future, Quinton de Kock showed no signs of rust.
“To be honest, I haven’t faced any challenges yet,” De Kock said. “Had a nice three-month break and about a 10-day build-up to this season. This is only my second game here, just taking things as they come.”
Kolkata Knight Riders acquired De Kock for ₹3.60 crore in the mega auction after his release from Lucknow Super Giants. He gave KKR a strong start with two boundaries but soon lost his opening partner Moeen Ali, who was run out for five.
De Kock anchored KKR’s chase with an unbeaten 83-run stand alongside Angkrish Raghuvanshi (22*), sealing the win with a six off Archer. Rajasthan suffered their second straight loss.
Earlier, KKR’s bowlers dominated as Arora removed Samson (13), while Chakravarthy and Moeen took two wickets each. Rajasthan slipped to 82-5 despite Jurel’s 33 and Archer’s 16, managing a below-par total.
