KL Rahul recently stepped into parenthood as he and his wife, Athiya Shetty, welcomed a baby girl. The middle-order batter missed Delhi Capitals’ (DC) opening match of the IPL 2025 season against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), staying in Mumbai to celebrate the joyous occasion with his family.
However, the 32-year-old soon rejoined his team in Visakhapatnam for their second fixture against SunRisers Hyderabad—a match that turned out to be memorable as his team secured a seven-wicket victory. A day before the clash with SunRisers Hyderabad, KL Rahul was spotted chatting with Nitish Kumar Reddy during a training session.
Naturally, their conversation included Rahul’s recent milestone of becoming a father. A video capturing the moment has been making waves on social media, showing SunRisers’ all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy congratulating KL Rahul on this special chapter in his life. You can watch the video here:
“How is your baby? Cute,” asked Nitish Kumar Reddy.
To this, KL Rahul replied, “Obviously, I will say cute.”

KL Rahul gestured to show how tiny his newborn daughter is, and his face lit up with joy as he spoke about her. Earlier, on March 24, KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty took to Instagram to share the news of their baby’s arrival. The couple made the announcement with a joint post featuring an illustration of two swans, accompanied by the heartfelt message, “Blessed with a baby girl.”
Delhi Capitals Bounce Back with Dominant Seven-Wicket Win Against SRH
On Sunday, Delhi Capitals secured a commanding seven-wicket victory, comfortably chasing down a target of 164 with 24 balls to spare. Mitchell Starc was the standout performer, claiming five wickets to dismantle a formidable SunRisers Hyderabad batting lineup, restricting them to 163 in under 19 overs.
The chase proved effortless for Delhi as Faf du Plessis (50), Jake Fraser-McGurk (38), and Abishek Porel (34*) contributed valuable runs. KL Rahul added a quickfire 15 off just five balls, striking two fours and a six. In the end, Porel (34*) and Tristan Stubbs (21*) guided the team to victory with ease.
Delhi Capitals will now face Chennai Super Kings on Saturday, April 5, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
