Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer hit the gym before their match against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Monday, March 31, in Mumbai. He shared a humorous Instagram story featuring his teammate Rinku Singh. In the post, Venkatesh Iyer, dressed in casual gym attire with shoes, is seen lifting Rinku Singh while smiling. Meanwhile, Rinku gives a thumbs-up, adding to the lighthearted moment.

“No weights no problem,” he wrote in his story where he also tagged Rinku Singh.

The all-rounder was released by KKR after IPL 2024 but was re-signed in the 2025 mega-auction for a massive ₹23.75 crore. KKR also appointed him as the team’s vice-captain. So far this season, he has played just one match, scoring six runs against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The 30-year-old will aim to deliver a strong performance in the upcoming game against the Mumbai Indians.

Venkatesh Iyer’s impressive track record against Mumbai Indians

Venkatesh Iyer has an outstanding IPL record against the Mumbai Indians. In six matches against them, he has amassed 362 runs at an impressive average of 72.40 and a strike rate of 165.29. The left-handed batter also boasts a century against Mumbai, which remains his highest score (104) in the tournament’s history, along with three half-centuries.

In their last encounter during the 2024 season, Iyer hammered a blistering 42 off just 21 balls, smashing six fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 200. KKR had a rough start this season with a loss to RCB but bounced back with a dominant eight-wicket victory over the Rajasthan Royals.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians are under pressure after losing both their matches. KKR will look to capitalize on their momentum from the win against Rajasthan and continue their strong form.
