Mumbai Indians (MI) went berserk with bat and ball during Match 12 of the IPL 2025, wherein they steered Kolkata Knight Riders right under the covers to seal a simple 8-wicket win at Wankhede.

The uncapped Ashwani Kumar made his debut unforgettable as he returned with figures of 4 for 24 in just three overs, leading the charge with Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar, Vignesh Puthur, and Mitchell Santner in putting the defending champions on the mat in the first innings with a pathetic total of 116 runs.

There was really no doubt about the Mumbai Indians (MI) batters getting off to a rollicking start in the chase, thanks to an unbeaten 62* from Ryan Rickleton, as the home team wrapped up the chase in less than 13 overs.

Ashwani Kumar: The Debutant Destroyer

23-year-old Ashwani Kumar was the star for Mumbai Indians. Nervous before the game, his performance didn’t give any signs of it. Four wickets from Kumar helped restrict the KKR batting lineup. Bouncing the batters was the actual turning point, and taking the wicket of Ajinkya Rahane on his very first ball was history made by the debutant in IPL on this ground.

Trent Boult: Swing King Wreaks Havoc

The experienced left-arm seamer, bringing misery onto the KKR batsmen, was at his top form, taking crucial wickets and dictating the game to Mumbai Indians (MI) favor. Particularly his peach of an outswinger to get Sunil Narine has been one of the big moments in the match. Boult’s ability to swing the ball both ways put KKR’s batsmen under all sorts of pressure, and his wickets very much contributed in putting the visitors to a low total.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi: A Glimmer of Hope Amidst KKR’s Collapse

Angkrish Raghuvanshi was one of very few positives for the Kolkata Knight Riders. The young batsman, with his clips and punches, looked promising and, in fact, was the topmost among his top order during his brief stay. Surprisingly, this stay was cut short when he pulled a ball from Hardik Pandya straight into the hands of deep square-leg, and KKR was wobbling at 45 for 5 in 7 overs. Nevertheless, Raghuvanshi’s performance was a silver lining in KKR’s dark cloud looming over them.
