[WATCH]- Virat Kohli Hints At Retirement Plans During RCB IPL 2025 Event

India’s star batter, Virat Kohli, gave a major hint about his playing future during a recent Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) event. After retiring from T20Is following last year’s World Cup, Kohli now has his eyes set on winning the 2027 50-over World Cup. The 36-year-old was part of the 2011 World Cup-winning squad and played a crucial role in the final against Sri Lanka, scoring 35 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

He came close to repeating that success in 2023 but was thwarted by Australia in the final in Ahmedabad. Despite this, the veteran earned the Player of the Tournament award, amassing a record 765 runs, including three centuries. Watch here what Virat Kohli revealed about his future plans:

When the host inquired about his next big move during the RCB event, the former Indian captain responded:

“The next big step? I don’t know, maybe try to win the next World Cup.”

The Delhi-born cricketer had also led the Indian team during the 2019 World Cup in England. On that occasion, the Asian Giants experienced another heartbreak, losing a low-scoring semi-final to New Zealand in Manchester.

“We Have a Squad Ready to Dominate for 8 Years” – Virat Kohli

After India’s recent Champions Trophy victory in Dubai, the veteran batter commended the country’s bench strength and expressed confidence that the Men in Blue would stay at the top for years. Kohli was quoted by ESPN Cricinfo saying:

“When you leave, you want to leave the team in a better place, I feel we’ve a squad that’s ready to take on the world for the next eight years. Shubman [Gill] has been outstanding, Shreyas [Iyer] beautiful, KL [Rahul] has finished games, and Hardik [Pandya] has been superb with the bat.”

”It’s been amazing. We wanted to bounce back after a tough Australian tour, and wanted to win a big tournament, and we ended up doing that. So it’s an amazing feeling.”

The right-handed batsman will next be seen in action for India during the away Test series against England in June.
