Mohammed Siraj lit up the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad with an absolute cracker of a performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the ongoing IPL 2025. With the crowd buzzing and anticipation sky-high, Siraj delivered a bowling masterclass, leaving fans and critics in awe. Returning to Hyderabad his hometown Siraj looked right at home as he ran through the SRH batting lineup.
The Shami-Siraj Moment
Before the first ball was even bowled, fans were treated to a hilarious moment. Mohammed Shami hit Siraj on the head with a football during warmups, all in good humor. Instead of owning up, Shami immediately pointed fingers elsewhere then, he hugged Siraj with a cheeky grin.

Siraj’s Spellbinding Bowling Performance
Siraj wasted no time. Within the powerplay itself, he landed two massive blows by dismissing Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. Both were key players for SRH, and their early departure sent shockwaves through their dugout. His spell in the death overs. Where bowlers usually get hammered, Siraj stood tall calm, composed, and cutting through the lower order like a hot knife through butter. By the end of his 4 overs, Siraj had taken 4 wickets for just 17 runs his best-ever IPL performance.
Siraj’s dismissal of Travis Head, the Aussie powerhouse, set the tone. Then he bagged Abhishek Sharma’s wicket. Then in death he removed Aniket Verma and Simarjeet Singh with clinical precision, proving he’s got ice in his veins.
Mohammed Shami’s Underwhelming IPL 2025 So Far
On the flip side, Mohammed Shami’s form has been wobbly. Despite his experience, he’s struggled to find rhythm in this year’s IPL. Before this game, he had only managed three wickets.

GT dominating performance
SRH struggled to build substantial partnerships, with Pat Cummins’ late cameo offering brief hope. Mohammed Siraj’s exceptional 4-wicket haul put the visitors in control early. Despite a rare failure from Sudharsan and Jos Buttler’s duck, Gujarat’s response was driven by a well-balanced partnership between Shubman Gill and Washington Sundar, who mixed aggression with caution. Sundar fell just short of his fifty due to a debatable third-umpire call, but Gill carried on, ensuring GT stayed ahead. Sherfane Rutherford, introduced as the Impact player, sealed the game with powerful strokes, securing a convincing win with 20 balls to spare.
