Today is one of the most celebrated days in history of Indian cricket. On this day 39, the most illustrated cricketer in Indian cricketing history, MS Dhoni was born. On this auspicious day, the entire country has come down to celebrate the birthday of MS Dhoni.
The world witnessed a glimpse of Dhoni when he made his debut in 2004. The beginning was not at all impressive but as everyone says, ‘what matters most is how you end.’ The rest is history.
The former India skipper started a new chapter in Indian cricket taking the side to greater heights. He starred in every aspect of the game from batting to wicket-keeping to leading the side. Dhoni is the most successful captain in the history of Indian cricket with three ICC titles under his belt.
Happy Birthday MS Dhoni
He has led India to 27 wins in 60 Test matches along with 110 and 41 victories in 199 ODIs and 72 T20Is respectively. Arguably the best-finisher of the modern-day game, MS Dhoni took India over the rope on innumerable occasions. The six over long-on fielder to end India’s 28-year long barren run in 50-over World Cup will forever remain in the hearts of every true cricket fans.
Speaking on the batting front, MS Dhoni has amassed over 10000 runs at an average of 50.6 in 300 ODIs. Along with it, he has scored 4876 Tests runs and 1617 T20Is runs; many of those coming in winning cause.
Despite all his success, the cricketer from Ranchi has managed to stay grounded. His humble nature and down-to-earth mentality have separated him from the rest. An ardent lover of the game, the wicket-keeper-batsman always preferred team results over personal milestones.
Meanwhile, the entire nation went into a celebration mode as MS Dhoni celebrates his birthday today. Wishes poured in from all spheres including his current and former teammates since the clock ticked 12.
Team India skipper Virat Kohli led the charge in wishing the birthday boy followed by Suresh Raina, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishant Sharma to name a few.
