Punjab Kings (PBKS) opener Priyansh Sharma etched his name in the record books by smashing the fastest IPL century by an uncapped player, reaching the milestone in just 39 balls against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their IPL 2025 clash at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on Tuesday.
He became only the eighth player overall—and the seventh Indian uncapped player—to notch up a century in the IPL. Priyansh first caught the public eye in the Delhi Premier League, where he famously struck six sixes in a single over. His blistering hundred was also the second-fastest by an Indian in IPL history and the quickest ever scored against CSK.

The young Delhi batter made his IPL debut against Gujarat Titans. His meteoric rise began during the IPL 2025 Mega Auction in Jeddah last November, where his base price of ₹30 lakh soared to ₹3.8 crore, with PBKS outbidding Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru for the 23-year-old.
Priyansh Arya’s century propels PBKS to a massive total against CSK
Batting first, PBKS amassed an imposing total of 219/6 in their 20 overs, thanks to a sensational century from Priyansh Arya, who anchored the innings amid a top-order collapse. His knock proved vital as the rest of the frontline batters – Prabhsimran (0), Shreyas Iyer (9), Marcus Stoinis (4), Nehal Wadhera (9), and Glenn Maxwell (1) – failed to make an impact.
However, the innings gained momentum towards the end with crucial contributions from Shashank Singh and Marco Jansen. Shashank remained unbeaten on 52 off 36 balls, striking at 144.44, while Jansen chipped in with a rapid 34* off 19 deliveries at a strike rate of 178.95.
Following a loss in their previous outing, PBKS now find themselves in a strong position to bounce back, setting CSK a challenging target of 220 — a tough ask considering their struggles in chasing high totals this season.
