[WATCH]- KL Rahul Celebrates Boldly After His Match-Winning Knock Against RCB In IPL 2025

Delhi Capitals’ wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul pulled off a bold celebration after his stellar knock against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2025 clash at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday. He shouted a few aggressive words after launching a six and pointed to the pitch, seemingly highlighting his strong grasp of the conditions.

Rahul had a brief cameo in his season opener against SunRisers Hyderabad, but the Karnataka-born batter has been in top form since. He opened the innings with a 77-run knock against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and followed it up with an unbeaten 93 in tough conditions to take the Capitals to victory over RCB.

Batting first, Royal Challengers (RCB) started strongly with Phil Salt taking on Mitchell Starc in his second over. However, Salt’s run-out shifted the momentum, triggering regular wickets for the hosts. Tim David’s late flourish helped them post a competitive total of 163.

The Capitals also faced an early top-order slump, falling to 20/3. But the seasoned wicketkeeper-batter steadied the innings, partnering first with Axar Patel and then Tristan Stubbs to guide the team to an unbeaten finish.

“On a pitch like this, I was aware of my scoring areas”- KL Rahul

After receiving the Player of the Match award, KL Rahul shared that observing the pitch from behind the stumps during RCB’s innings helped him understand the conditions early on.

The 32-year-old stated:

“It was a slightly tricky wicket but what helped me was being behind the stumps for 20 overs, watching how the wicket played. The ball sat in the wicket but it was consistent throughout, it was one-paced.”

“I knew what my shots are, wanted to get off to a good start, and then assess it accordingly. It depends on the conditions and the ground and the dimensions. On a wicket like this, I knew what my pockets were.”

The Delhi Capitals are set to host the Mumbai Indians at home on Sunday, April 13.
