IPL 2025: KL Rahul’s Vacation Joke With Kevin Pietersen Steals Spotlight Before GT vs DC Clash

Ahead of the much-anticipated IPL 2025 match between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans, a light-hearted moment caught everyone’s attention. KL Rahul, known for his calm demeanor, surprised fans by making a witty remark about Delhi Capitals’ mentor, Kevin Pietersen.

During a training session where Pietersen met Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill, the former England cricketer jokingly questioned the meaning of being a mentor.

KL Rahul seized the opportunity and responded with a hilarious burn, saying, “A mentor is someone who goes to the Maldives for two weeks mid-season.” The Delhi Capitals’ official account even shared the video online with the caption, “Thanks, KL, now we know what a mentor does.”

Pietersen’s Maldives Trip Sparks Banter

Kevin Pietersen had recently taken a vacation to the Maldives along with his family. During this time, he missed two key matches — one against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and another against Mumbai Indians.

However, he returned to the dugout in time for the clash against Rajasthan Royals, which Delhi Capitals won in a thrilling Super Over finish. While his role as a mentor came under playful scrutiny, the team continued to perform well even in his absence. His short break became the talk of the town, especially after Rahul’s sharp but humorous remark.

Delhi Capitals’ Strong IPL 2025 Performance

Despite the fun off the field, Delhi Capitals have been dominant in the ongoing IPL 2025 season. Led by Axar Patel, the team has secured five wins out of six matches and currently tops the points table with 10 points. Their next challenge is against the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

A victory in this match would solidify their position as the leading team in the tournament. With Hemang Badani as head coach and Kevin Pietersen as mentor, Delhi seems to have found the right combination — on and off the field. The team’s spirit, mixed with occasional humor, has been a refreshing highlight of the season.
