Virat Kohli played a stellar knock against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Sunday, guiding Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to maintain their flawless away record in IPL 2025. Kohli remained unbeaten on 73 off 54 balls in the run-chase, helping RCB chase down the 157-run target with 7 wickets and 7 balls to spare.
However, the post-match moments caught the attention of fans as Kohli seemed to tease PBKS captain, Shreyas Iyer, with his celebratory antics. Despite the long-standing camaraderie between the two, there was a noticeable tension during their post-match exchange.
After Jitesh Sharma’s match-winning moment for Punjab, Kohli turned animatedly toward Iyer, celebrating playfully and perhaps poking fun at his India teammate. Iyer, however, didn’t appear amused. As they went for the handshake, Iyer appeared visibly cold.
Virat Kohli, still laughing, tried to lighten the mood, but Shreyas Iyer stayed serious and had a short, tense chat, showing he wasn’t happy with the celebration. Kohli, unaffected, kept smiling and went on to greet the other players. You can watch the video here:

It wasn’t the first time Kohli showed an animated gesture during the game. In PBKS’ innings, after Kohli helped run out Nehal Wadhera, he gave a strong send-off to the youngster. Later, in the run-chase, Kohli joked with Harpreet Brar in Punjabi, telling the PBKS bowler that he knew his coach.
RCB Climbs to Top Four After Key Away Win, Remain Unbeaten on the Road
Despite this, RCB secured a crucial away win that propelled them back into the top four of the points table. With 10 points from 8 matches, RCB remain unbeaten in away games but have yet to win at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
In the 157-run chase, Devdutt Padikkal played a key role alongside Kohli, scoring a quick 61 off 35 balls, hitting five fours and four sixes. With the ball, Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma both took two wickets each and were economical, conceding 25 and 26 runs, respectively, in their four overs.
