The IPL 2025 “Revenge Week” thrilled fans with high-stakes action as teams fiercely battled for playoff spots. The day kicked off with Mumbai Indians crushing Lucknow Super Giants by 54 runs at the Wankhede Stadium, marking MI’s fifth consecutive win and pushing them to 12 points after 10 games.
Later, Royal Challengers Bengaluru avenged an earlier defeat by beating Delhi Capitals by six wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. With this win, RCB climbed to the top of the points table with 14 points. These victories have intensified the race for playoff qualification, especially for teams struggling in the lower half of the standings.
Playoff Scenarios for the Top Teams
RCB now sits at the summit with 14 points from 10 games and needs just two more wins from four matches to virtually secure a playoff spot, with three or four wins guaranteeing a top-two finish. Gujarat Titans, who have 12 points from 8 games, must win at least three of their last four matches to qualify comfortably. Mumbai Indians, after a poor start, have bounced back impressively.

With 12 points in hand, they now need to win three out of their final four games to secure qualification, although two wins could also be enough. Delhi Capitals, led by Axar Patel, have shown strong form with 12 points in 9 matches. They need four wins from their last five games to qualify safely, but three wins might also secure their place.
Challenges Ahead for Other Teams
Punjab Kings, with five wins and a no-result in nine matches, need to win four out of five remaining games to qualify, while three wins would still keep them in strong contention. Lucknow Super Giants, currently at 10 points after 10 games, must win three of their last four matches to stay alive in the race.
On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad are in must-win situations, needing victories in all five of their remaining matches to even hope for playoff qualification. Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings find themselves in even more precarious positions. With seven losses each in nine matches, both teams must not only win their remaining fixtures by big margins but also rely heavily on other match outcomes to sneak into the playoffs.
