Ian Bishop, a former fast bowler from the West Indies, found himself nearly at a loss for words to praise what can only be dubbed as a hits-from-another-world kind of innings from Rajasthan Royals’ 14-year-old astonishing talent Vaibhav Suryavanshi during the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

Another talent has materialized in this financially lucrative league, which has fast become a fitting cradle for the development of stars; while pursuing 210 runs against the Gujarat Titans, the Rajasthan Royals would see Suryavanshi rake up 101 off 38, utterly shocking the cricketing world and marking his name in the history books. From Priyansh Arya to Shaik Rasheed to Ayush Mhatre and now Suryavanshi, another candidate for India’s future has emerged.

Ian Bishop is in awe of Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s performance:

Ian Bishop, the former West Indies quick, was at a loss for words when he tried to commend the 14-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi of the Rajasthan Royals for his “otherworldly” performance during the 18th Indian Premier League (IPL) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

“I don’t care what GT served up [with the ball] on a platter; the kid is 14 years old! He demolished what was served to him tonight. You can take nothing away. Going forward, [we can ask] how do they come at him in the next game, how does he counter what’s going to be thrown at him, but for tonight, I don’t care whether [the bowlers] served him oranges,” Ian Bishop said.

“I hope we don’t go too far with praising him, but you cannot step back from the fact that tonight was absolutely mind-blowing, otherworldly,” Ian Bishop added.

The youthful southpaw destroyed the backbone of GT’s 209/4 defense on his own, boosting Rajasthan’s confidence by opening the door for victory and bringing an end to their five-match losing run.
