Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Tilak Varma has rejoined the team camp ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 restart, scheduled for May 17. The tournament had been temporarily halted by the BCCI for a week on May 9.
The five-time champions are set to resume their campaign on Wednesday, May 21, when they take on Delhi Capitals (DC) at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Following that, MI will play their final league fixture against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on May 26 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
As the league’s resumption draws near, Tilak Varma posted on Instagram on Wednesday, May 14, sharing his return to the MI camp in Mumbai. His caption read:

The Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians began their IPL 2025 season on a disappointing note, managing only one victory in their first five games. However, they made a strong comeback by winning six matches in a row before their streak was broken by the Gujarat Titans (GT).
Shubman Gill’s team edged past MI by three wickets using the DLS method on May 6 at the Wankhede Stadium. Currently, MI hold the fourth spot on the points table with 14 points from 12 games and will be eager to win their final two league matches to boost their chances of reaching the playoffs.

Tilak Varma has been in strong form for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025, accumulating 246 runs in 12 matches across nine innings, at an average of 35.14 and a strike rate of 138.98. The left-handed batter has scored two half-centuries, with his highest being a rapid 59 off 33 balls against Delhi Capitals.
At just 22 years old, Varma has played 50 IPL matches, amassing 1,402 runs at an impressive average of 38.94 and a strike rate of 144.98. He has scored eight fifties in his IPL career, with his top score being an unbeaten 84.
