Asian countries have been a hub of spinners over the years. Over the years, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka have produced a number of quality spinners to the sport. In current times, the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have dominated the scene. Recently, former cricketer Dilip Doshi picked Jadeja as the best spinner across all formats.
The all-rounder from Rajkot grabbed the headlines with his performances in the U-19 World Cup in 2008. Soon after, he made his international debut in 2009 while his Test debut came in 2012 under MS Dhoni. Since then, Ravindra Jadeja has been a vital cog in the wheel.
Ravindra Jadeja is the best spinner – Dilip Doshi
Currently, he is the only spinner in the country to feature in all three formats. He has been leading the charge in the spin department ever since the ICC World Cup 2019. Former cricketer and one of the highest wicket-taker in domestic cricket, Dilip Doshi rated Ravindra Jadeja as the best spinner across the formats.
“I consider him (Jadeja) best among the lot. I will play him all the time,” said the former spinner in an online chat session with Playwrite Foundation.
So far, Ravindra Jadeja has represented India in 49 Tests, 165 ODIs, and 49 T20 Internationals scoring 1,869, 2,296, and 173 runs respectively. He has also taken 213 scalps in Test matches and 187 and 39 wickets in ODI and T20s respectively.
Furthermore, Dilip Doshi also hailed Kuldeep Yadav and opined that he will only get better with time. Since his debut in 2017, Kuldeep has emerged as one of the brightest talents in the country. Although he had a bad patch in 2019, but the cricketer from Uttar Pradesh is likely to bounce back soon.
“Kuldeep is a great talent. The more he bowls, the better he will become,” Dilip Doshi added.
