Star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah made a light-hearted comment, seemingly aimed at Shubman Gill, as Team India landed in London ahead of their Test series against England. The five-match series is scheduled to begin on June 20. A video shared by the Indian cricket team on social media captured the squad, along with head coach Gautam Gambhir, arriving at the London airport.
Many players were seen sporting Team India travel outfits and wearing sunglasses. The standout moment of the video was Bumrah’s funny remark. Spotting new captain Shubman Gill in shades, Bumrah couldn’t resist making a witty comment.
“Raat mein bande ne chashme pehne hue (He is wearing shades in the night).”
At the end of the video, batter Sai Sudharsan shared his enthusiasm about being included in the Indian squad.
“Welcome to the UK,” the left-hander said.
The video featured several players, including Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Washington Sundar.

“Yet to Decide How Many Tests Bumrah Will Play in England”: Gambhir
The England series signals Jasprit Bumrah‘s comeback to international cricket. He was last seen in action during the 2024–25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia but missed India’s home series against England and the 2025 Champions Trophy due to injury.
Bumrah missed the start of IPL 2025 but returned strongly for MI. With a long five-Test series ahead, head coach Gautam Gambhir said his workload will be managed and no decision has been made yet on how many matches he’ll play.
“Always difficult to replace Bumrah but as I said in the Champions Trophy, it is an opportunity for someone to put his hand up. And there is enough quality there. We haven’t taken that call. A lot will depend on the results in the series and we will have a discussion with him. That is something that I am sure he is also aware of,” he had said (via The Statesman).
