Khaleel Ahmed delivered a fiery spell that dismantled the England Lions’ batting lineup in the second unofficial Test in Northampton. Starting the day at 192/3, the England Lions were looking steady before Khaleel’s intervention flipped the script. He claimed the crucial wicket of Jordan Cox to kickstart the collapse, followed by back-to-back dismissals of James Rew and George Hill.

He later sent Chris Woakes back to the pavilion to complete his four-wicket haul. The left-arm pacer’s consistency in targeting the right lengths created ample opportunities for mistakes, helping India A seize control. Supporting him, Tushar Deshpande took two wickets, while Tanush Kotian, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Anshul Kamboj chipped in with one wicket each.

Rahul and Jurel Lead the Charge with the Bat

India A had earlier set the tone with an impressive first-innings total of 348 runs, thanks to standout performances by KL Rahul and Dhruv Jurel. Returning to action after missing the first unofficial Test, Rahul quickly adapted to the English conditions and showcased his class with a composed century.

Jurel, continuing his fine form, notched up another half-century—his third across the warm-up fixtures—cementing his rising reputation. Their contributions provided a strong foundation for the bowlers to build on, and Khaleel capitalized on that platform with his exceptional bowling display.

Team India Gears Up in London

Meanwhile, the senior Indian squad has begun preparations for the upcoming fixtures with their first training session at Lord’s. Under the supervision of new head coach Gautam Gambhir and strength and conditioning coach Adrian Le Roux, the players went through intensive indoor drills.

Key players like Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, and Jasprit Bumrah were seen getting into rhythm, combining technical practice with light-hearted football games to build team morale. New faces in the squad, including Sai Sudharsan and Arshdeep Singh, are eager to make their mark during this tour. With both India A and the senior team in action, Indian cricket fans have much to look forward to as they track performances leading up to the Champions Trophy and IPL 2025.
