Rishabh Pant, known as one of the most entertaining players in Indian cricket, once again showed why fans like him so much. He is loved not only for his fearless batting but also for his fun and lively behaviour on the field. His funny and honest comments, often caught on the stump mic, continue to make the game more enjoyable.
On Day 4 of the Headingley Test between India and England, the spirited wicketkeeper-batter delivered another viral one-liner that lit up social media. At Lunch, India stood at 153/3 in their second innings, building on their solid first-innings total of 471. Pant remained unbeaten on 31 from 59 balls, with KL Rahul holding firm at the other end on 72 from 157 deliveries.
England’s Shoaib Bashir had figures of 0/17 from 5 overs. Rishabh Pant came to the crease following Shubman Gill’s early exit, after he was dismissed by Brydon Carse. Pant tried to play his usual attacking game by stepping out early, but England’s pacers tightened their lines and kept him quiet. As runs dried up and frustration grew, the stump mic caught another of his funny remarks.

“Ye vaali ball tameez se khelne ke chakkar me chuth rahi hai,” he stated.
“Sorry, Woakesy!” 😅

Pant and Rahul Steady India Before Lunch on Day 4
Earlier in the day, with the pitch offering good support to the seamers, Shubman Gill—who had scored a century in the first innings—could add only two more runs to his overnight score before being dismissed for 8 by Brydon Carse. The bowler delivered a sharp good-length delivery that moved in off the seam, surprising Gill.
He got a thick inside edge that deflected onto the stumps, ending his innings early. England kept building pressure and creating chances. KL Rahul was dropped on 58 by Harry Brook shortly after completing his 18th Test fifty, while Rishabh Pant survived a close lbw call on review.
Despite the early challenges, Rahul and Pant batted with caution in the final half-hour before lunch. They handled the movement off the pitch well and put together a steady 61-run stand for the fourth wicket.
