BCCI selectors likely to pick squad for the series on Sept 12 : The New Zealand cricket team will be touring India for a series of three Test matches and five ODIs.

The visitors would open their campaign with a tour match against Mumbai at the Firoz Shah Kotla in New Delhi on Sunday, 17th September, 2016.

This would be followed by three Test Matches with the first one at Green Park, Kanpur, the second at Eden Gardens, Kolkata and the final Test at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore.

The first of the five ODIs will be played at HPCA, Dharmashala, followed by the other four in Delhi, Chandigarh, Ranchi and Vishakapatnam.

he selectors, meanwhile, will meet in Delhi on September 12 to choose India”s squad for the three-match Test series against New Zealand, which begins on September 22 at Green Park in Kanpur.

The first Test is set to be India”s 500th Test match.

It would be interesting to see whether some of the players doing duty for India A currently in Australia in the unofficial Test matches and the Quadrangular series, and doing pretty well, get a ‘look in’ to be part of the Team India dressing room.

Atleast a player like Manish Pandey who performed excellently in the Quadrangular series and is also showcasing his talent in the unofficial Test matches does deserve an opportunity to play at the highest level.

It is absolutely necessary to reward players when they in their best form so that the team benefits immensely.

Testing and trying players with talent, a ‘home series’ is the best option.

All these would be known in just about three days’ time.
