A troubling situation has emerged for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) cricketer Yash Dayal, who is now facing a second sexual assault accusation, this time involving a minor. This new development comes after he recently received a stay on arrest in a separate sexual exploitation case.
New Allegations: Rape of a Minor
An FIR (First Information Report) has been filed against Yash Dayal at the Sanganer Police Station in Jaipur. The serious charges against him involve the alleged rape of a minor girl over a period of two years, during which he reportedly used emotional blackmail.
According to the police report, Dayal is accused of luring the victim with the promise of a career in cricket. He allegedly invited her to a hotel in Sitapura, where the initial sexual assault occurred. At the time of the first incident, the girl was only 17 years old. Consequently, the police have registered the case under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, reflecting the severe nature of the allegations involving a minor.
Previous Sexual Exploitation Case
This latest accusation follows closely on the heels of another legal battle for the 27-year-old IPL player. The Allahabad High Court recently granted a stay on Dayal’s arrest in connection with an earlier FIR filed against him for allegedly sexually exploiting another woman.
A bench comprising Justices Siddhartha Varma and Anil Kumar issued this order in response to Dayal’s petition challenging that FIR. The court has requested the state counsel to submit a counter-affidavit and also issued notices to the complainant to file her response.
Details of the First Case
The initial FIR against Dayal was lodged on July 6 at the Indirapuram police station in Ghaziabad district. This case falls under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which addresses sexual intercourse through deceitful means. In this instance, Dayal is accused of sexually exploiting a woman under the guise of a promise to marry.
His legal counsel argued that a person can only be charged under Section 69 BNS if it’s proven they made a marriage promise without any genuine intention to fulfill it. Dayal’s petition sought both a stay on his arrest and the quashing of this FIR.
The complainant in this first case stated that she and Dayal had met approximately five years ago, and he had promised to marry her. She further claimed that Dayal consistently postponed their marriage, and she eventually discovered he was involved with other women. This complaint was initially submitted through the chief minister’s online grievance portal (IGRS) on June 21.
