[WATCH]- Yashasvi Jaiswal Sparks Laughter With On-Field Quip During 4th Test vs England

India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was caught on the stump mic making a playful remark about the need for “more English” during Day 3 of the fourth Test at Old Trafford on Friday, July 25. The 23-year-old was seen clapping and encouraging his teammates as India looked for ways to break the partnership between Joe Root and Ollie Pope.

England resumed Day 3 on 225/2, and Root and Pope added 107 runs during the morning session, frustrating the Indian bowlers on a flat pitch in Manchester.

“Macha, I need some English here. I want hear some English from you, come on!” Jaiswal was caught saying on the stump mic on Day 3 at Old Trafford.

Indian captain Shubman Gill rotated all his fast bowlers through extended spells during the first session on Friday, July 25. However, Joe Root and Ollie Pope handled the pace attack comfortably and continued to reduce England’s first-innings deficit with ease.

Eventually, Gill introduced spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar, but they also struggled to make a breakthrough, as England reached the lunch break without losing a wicket.

The lunch break came at the right time for India, giving them a chance to regroup and plan how to break the partnership. Shortly after play resumed, Washington Sundar provided the breakthrough by using the drift at Old Trafford effectively to draw an outside edge from Ollie Pope, who was dismissed for 71.

KL Rahul, positioned as the lone slip fielder, took a sharp catch to end the 144-run partnership. Joe Root was then joined by Harry Brook at the crease, and at the time of writing, England stood at 349/3 after 80 overs, trailing India by just nine runs.
