Indian cricketer KL Rahul, who is currently touring England as part of the Indian Test squad for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, recently shared a deeply personal and emotional moment on air. The star batter revealed how difficult it has been to be away from his infant daughter, Evaarah Vipula Rahul, who was born in March 2025. Speaking candidly, Rahul expressed that leaving her behind to fulfill his professional commitments has been incredibly hard.
Shortly after her birth, he joined the IPL and then the India A squad, which meant being away from his family for almost two months. The separation has taken an emotional toll on the new father, who is trying to stay connected with his baby as much as possible.
Staying Connected from Afar
Despite the physical distance, KL Rahul is making every effort to remain involved in his daughter’s early life. He shared that he spends most of his time glued to the baby camera, watching her grow and capturing each moment virtually. “I’m always on the baby cam. I keep looking at her pictures and videos all day,” he said, visibly emotional during the interview.
While technology offers him a way to feel close to his daughter, Rahul acknowledged that it’s not the same as being there in person. The sense of missing out on the little milestones of his daughter’s life weighs heavily on him, especially while being away on an extended tour.
Balancing Family and Career
Rahul also touched upon the broader emotional challenges of balancing an international cricket career with the responsibilities and joys of fatherhood. Although he and his wife, Athiya Shetty, have been supportive of each other’s roles and decisions, he admitted that the past few months have been particularly tough. The decision to prioritize his cricketing duties meant sacrificing time with his newborn, a choice that was far from easy.
Nevertheless, Rahul remains committed to both his professional and personal life, hoping to give his best on the field while keeping his daughter close to heart. His openness about these struggles resonates with many working parents who face similar dilemmas, making his story all the more relatable and heartfelt.
