Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will host a five-day training camp starting August 15 in Chennai before leaving for the UAE to play IPL 2020. All Indian cricketers are likely to attend the camp at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. However, star all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja is likely to skip the training camp in Chennai.

IPL franchises will start leaving for UAE after August 21 following BCCI’s directive. Meanwhile, the Super Kings will host a training camp at Chepauk before the team leaves for the UAE. Only Indian cricketers will attend the camp starting from August 15 to August 20.

Ravindra Jadeja to skip camp in Chennai

Heavyweight Indian cricketers like Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Harbhajan Singh and skipper MS Dhoni will attend the camp. But CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan revealed that Ravindra Jadeja will miss the camp. Speaking to ESPN Cricinfo, the official stated that the illustrious cricketer has some personal commitments during that time.

“He has personal commitments,” ESPNcricinfo quoted CSK chief executive officer Kasi Viswanathan as saying, explaining Jadeja’s absence.

However, Ravindra Jadeja will be in Chennai on time to board the flight to the UAE on August 21. Jadeja, who has been at home in Jamnagar for the last four months after lockdown started. He will play a pivotal role as Chennai Super Kings will aim to lift their fourth title.

Meanwhile, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed that Super Kings have got the green signal from Tamil Nadu Government to host the camp behind the closed door. Bowling coach Laxmipathy Balaji will only attend the camp in Chennai.

Head coach Stephen Fleming and assistant coach Michael Hussey, Viswanathan said, are likely to join the squad in Dubai by August 22. On the other hand,  Chennai are expecting two South Africans Faf du Plessis and Lungi Ngidi to join the squad after September 01.

IPL 2020 will commence from September 19 and will run until November 10. Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi will host all the matches of the 13the edition of the cash-rich league.
