Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir, along with his family, visited the Shri Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, on Friday, August 15, to offer prayers. The 43-year-old was last seen in the limelight during the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England. Making his debut as Test skipper, Shubman Gill guided the side brilliantly, supported by strong performances from other players.

The team showed steady form throughout the five-match series, which ended in a 2-2 stalemate. Before the important 2025 Asia Cup, starting September 9 in the UAE, Gambhir, with his wife Natasha Jain and daughters Aazeen and Anaiza, was spotted seeking blessings at the shrine. Speaking to PTI about visiting the spiritual temple, Gambhir stated:

“This is the third time I’ve had the chance to meet Baba. Baba has called me once again this time with my family. May the Lord’s blessings stay on the entire country with happiness, and continue showering his blessings on the nation. What could be better than this? Today, on the 15th of August, we celebrate our freedom. And if Baba’s blessings remain upon the country, the nation will surely move forward.”

Earlier this year, Team India delivered an outstanding performance in their last T20I series at home against England, clinching the five-match contest 4-1.
