Axar Patel claimed the key wicket of Pakistan captain Salman Agha to put India in control during the Asia Cup 2025 clash in Dubai on Sunday, September 14. The left-arm spinner dismissed Agha for just three runs off 12 balls, reducing Pakistan to 49/4 after 10 overs. The Pakistan skipper struggled against India’s spin attack, which also featured Varun Chakaravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav.
The breakthrough came on the final delivery of the 10th over, when Axar bowled a well-flighted slower ball outside off that landed on a good length. Salman attempted a sweep shot but only managed a thick edge, allowing Abhishek Sharma to take an easy catch at square leg. You can watch the video here:

This marked Axar Patel’s second wicket of the match, having earlier removed aggressive batter Fakhar Zaman for 17 runs off 15 balls.
India Take Control Against Pakistan As Axar Patel And Kuldeep Yadav Pick Two Wickets Each
A dominant bowling performance has given India the upper hand in their Asia Cup 2025 clash against Pakistan. Axar Patel claimed two key wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav also struck twice, removing Hasan Nawaz and Mohammad Nawaz on consecutive deliveries. Earlier, Hardik Pandya dismissed Saim Ayub for a golden duck, and Jasprit Bumrah sent wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris back for just three runs.
At the latest update, Pakistan were struggling at 64/6 after 14 overs, with Sahibzada Farhan (32 off 36) and Faheem Ashraf (1 off 1) at the crease. India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, are now firm favorites to secure consecutive wins in the tournament, having thrashed the UAE by nine wickets in their opening match.
The defending champions are strong contenders for back-to-back Asia Cup titles. With eight titles across formats, the Men in Blue remain the most successful team in the history of the continental tournament.
