Team India

India concluded their final group-stage match of the Asia Cup 2025 with a 21-run win over Oman in Abu Dhabi on Friday, September 19. The victory ensured the Men in Blue topped Group A, finishing with three wins and six points. Batting first, India posted 188/8, powered by a blistering innings from Abhishek Sharma, who scored 38 off just 15 balls at a strike rate of 253.33.

Sanju Samson added a solid 56, while Axar Patel (26) and Tilak Varma (29) played important supporting roles. The win, however, was hard-fought. Oman challenged India throughout, reaching 167/4 before falling short. Aamir Kaleem and Hammad Mirza contributed half-centuries in a spirited chase.

Here Are 5 Records From India’s Win Over Oman:

#1 Second-Highest T20I Match Count By A Country

India featured in their 250th T20I match during the Asia Cup 2025 clash against Oman, becoming the nation with the second-highest number of T20I games played, behind Pakistan, who have played 275 matches. The Men in Blue have secured 167 wins from their 250 matches, holding a win rate of 66.80%, with 71 losses and six tied games. Their 21-run victory over Oman made the milestone 250th T20I match a memorable one.

#2 India’s Highest T20I Partnership Conceded To an Associate Team

Oman produced a strong batting performance against India in their final Asia Cup 2025 game, with Aamir Kaleem and Hammad Mirza leading the charge. The pair put together a 93-run partnership for the second wicket off just 55 balls, with Hammad scoring 47 from 28 deliveries and Aamir adding 45 from 27 balls. This stand is now the highest partnership India has ever conceded to an Associate nation in T20Is.

#3 Oman Records First 50+ Opening Partnership vs A Full-Member Team

This marked the first occasion that Oman registered a 50-plus opening partnership against a full-member nation. Openers Aamir Kaleem and captain Jatindr Singh put together 56 runs for the first wicket off 52 balls. Earlier, Oman had achieved opening stands of 72 against Afghanistan and 69 against Ireland during the 2016 T20 World Cup, but at that time, neither Afghanistan nor Ireland held full-member status.

#4 Oman Posts Second-Biggest Total vs A Full-Member Team

Oman’s 167/4 against India in their Asia Cup 2025 match is their second-highest total versus a full-member nation. Their top score against a full-member team remains 173/9, achieved against Ireland at Al Amerat in 2019. Additionally, this is the second-highest total by an Associate nation against India in T20Is, with Nepal holding the record after scoring 179/9 during the 2023 Asian Games.

#5 Third-Quickest To 100 T20I Wickets For Full-Member Teams

Playing his first Asia Cup 2025 match, Arshdeep Singh took his 100th T20I wicket by dismissing Oman’s Vinayak Shukla. He became the third-fastest overall (64 matches) and the fastest pacer to reach 100 T20I wickets, as well as the first Indian to do so. Yuzvendra Chahal and Hardik Pandya trail him with 96 wickets each.
