Team India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has responded to remarks made by former cricketer Mohammad Kaif regarding his bowling approach in the ongoing 2025 Asia Cup. On Thursday, September 25, Kaif posted on social media, suggesting that Bumrah prefers to bowl only after his body has fully warmed up, as a way to prevent injuries.
Kaif further highlighted that Bumrah has bowled three overs inside the powerplay during the tournament so far, which, in his view, allows opposition batters an advantage by facing him for just a single over early on. He compared this to the strategy under Rohit Sharma’s T20I leadership, where Bumrah was often deployed in crucial phases such as the 1st, 13th, 17th, and 19th overs.
Writing on X, Kaif emphasized the tactical difference:
“Bumrah under Rohit would generally bowl overs 1, 13, 17, 19. Under Surya, in Asia cup, he bowled a three-overs spell at the start. To avoid injury, Bumrah these days, prefers to bowl while his body is warmed up. 1 over of Bumrah in the remaining 14 overs is a huge relief for batters, against stronger teams at World Cup, this could hurt india.”

Bumrah dismissed Kaif’s observations, labeling them as “inaccurate.” Responding to the post, the 31-year-old stated:
“Inaccurate before inaccurate again.”

“Yet To Find His Peak In Asia Cup 2025″- Mohammad Kaif On Bumrah
Mohammad Kaif opined that Jasprit Bumrah has not been at his peak during the 2025 Asia Cup. His comments followed India’s six-wicket victory over Pakistan in the Super Four stage, where Bumrah endured a tough outing, returning figures of 0 for 45 from four overs. Sharing his thoughts on the pacer’s showing in the tournament, Kaif remarked in a YouTube video posted on September 23:
“I think somewhere he is not at his peak. Bumrah, who is known for his speed, accuracy, and precise yorkers, seems to be struggling with that signature weapon of his. In the last few matches, his yorkers have been turning into full tosses but I hope he comes out of it soon. There is no doubt that he is a very great bowler.”
