Team India’s batter Tilak Varma had everyone, including the commentator, in splits when a cameraman caught him warming up ahead of their Asia Cup 2025 clash against Sri Lanka. Tilak appeared alongside opener Shubman Gill, preparing behind the boundary ropes near the entrance to the pitch.

He was seen shadow batting while Gill stood ready to walk in, and being fully padded up, Tilak’s presence briefly created confusion. Ultimately, it was Abhishek Sharma who walked out to open with Gill as usual. The commentator couldn’t help but humorously call out the cameraman for focusing on Tilak warming up.

“Varma ji dikh rahe hume yaha, Sharma ji nahi aaj Varma ji dikh rahe hai. Aree yeh dikhe na, yeh camera wala humari bhavnao se khel raha hai. Hum dhundh rahe hai Sharma ji ko, woh dikha rahe hai Varma ji (Varma Sir is seen today, not Sharma Sir, Varma Sir is seen today. Oh here is, this cameraman is playing with our feelings. We are looking for Sharma Sir and he is showing Varma Sir),” the commentator said.

Big Opportunity Awaits Tilak Varma

Tilak Varma will aim to seize the opportunity against Sri Lanka. He came in to bat at number four after India’s openers and skipper Suryakumar Yadav were dismissed. So far in the tournament, he has yet to play a match-defining innings. He didn’t get a chance to bat in the opening game against the UAE.

In the following match versus Pakistan, he scored a run-a-ball 31 while chasing 128. Against Oman, batting out of position at number seven, he made 29 off 18 balls. In the first Super 4 clash with Pakistan, Tilak returned to his usual number four spot and remained unbeaten on 30 from 19 deliveries.

However, he struggled against Bangladesh, coming in at number six and being dismissed for just five runs. The left-hander will now be keen to post a big score against Sri Lanka ahead of the final.
