Team India’s Sanju Samson was awarded the ‘Impact Player’ medal following their Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 encounter against Sri Lanka on Friday, September 26. The Men in Blue edged out the Islanders in a nail-biting contest that was decided in the Super Over.
After the match, Samson received the medal from Yogesh Parmar, the team’s physiotherapist, during a brief presentation in the dressing room. The wicketkeeper-batter also shared his appreciation and reflections upon being honored with the award.
“Thank you so much. This might be a small one, but it really means a lot. This small appreciation really means a lot to all of us. I personally take a lot of pride to be in this dressing room, not easy, and we all do. Very happy to contribute and be giving my best as we all do, thank you so much,” Samson said in a video released by the Indian Cricket Team on Instagram.

Sanju Samson made a significant impact in guiding India past the 200-run mark. Coming in at No. 5, he played a quickfire knock of 39 off 23 deliveries, laced with one four and three sixes, striking at 169.57. Behind the stumps, he contributed equally by pulling off a crucial stumping to dismiss Kusal Perera on 58 off Varun Chakaravarthy’s bowling, a key breakthrough as India looked to defend their total.
Sanju Samson Aims To Deliver For India In Asia Cup 2025 Final vs Pakistan
India will take on Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final on Sunday, September 28, in Dubai, with Sanju Samson expected to play a pivotal role in the high-stakes contest. The Men in Blue have leaned heavily on Abhishek Sharma, who has amassed 309 runs in six innings, while no other batter has crossed the 150-run mark.
Samson, though limited in opportunities, has delivered when needed. The wicketkeeper-batter has featured in just three innings, scoring 108 runs at an average of 36, including a half-century. After his composed knock against Sri Lanka, he will be heading into the final with confidence. India will be counting on Samson to produce another decisive performance as they push for the coveted trophy.
