Team India pacer Mohammed Siraj was named the Impact Player of the 2-0 home Test series against the West Indies. He finished as the leading pacer with 10 wickets, highlighted by a remarkable seven-wicket haul in the first Test in Ahmedabad.
Siraj exploited a rare green pitch at home to dismantle the West Indies lineup, helping India secure a commanding innings-and-140-runs victory to take a 1-0 series lead. By contrast, he had to work hard in the second Test on a pitch that offered minimal pace and bounce.
Across the series, Siraj bowled 49 overs, just short of Jasprit Bumrah’s 51.5 overs. Wicketkeeper-batter N Jagadeesan handed the medal to Siraj in the dressing room. You can watch the video here:

“To be honest, the series went very well because when we played in Ahmedabad, there was a lot of help for the fast bowlers. Then we came to Delhi, and we had to bowl a lot of overs here. Even one wicket felt like five wickets (here), because as a fast bowler when you are rewarded after putting in the effort, you gain a lot of confidence, and you also feel happy,” Siraj said in a vide released by the BCCI.
Siraj will lead India’s pace attack in the upcoming ODI series against Australia from October 19, with Bumrah rested. The team left for Australia on October 15, ahead of five T20Is.
