MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings have been one of the most successful and consistent teams in the history of Indian Premier League. Chennai, who missed the title by a whisker last time, will be keen to win back the illustrious trophy this year. However, Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting has found out one plan to stop the Super Kings.

Chennai have been successful mostly because of their core group of players who have been part of the side since long. Also, skipper MS Dhoni has been a major part of their plan, who has led the side from the front. He has scored the bulk of the runs in the lower-order finishing games on innumerable occasions.

Meanwhile, Ricky Ponting has identified the challenge his side will face when they lock horns with the three-time winners. The former Australia captain said that his job as Delhi coach will be to contain MS Dhoni whenever they play against CSK.

“Chennai have been one of the most consistently strong and competitive teams in the IPL, and a lot of that’s got to come down to his [MS Dhoni’s] leadership as well. I’m looking forward to coaching against him now and making sure he doesn’t win any game off his own bat when Chennai play the Delhi Capitals,” Ponting told news.com.au.

Furthermore, Ricky Ponting hailed MS Dhoni’s trait of never letting his emotions take over reality. Dhoni has managed to keep his under check and deliver the goods for his side whenever he has come out to lead a team.

“He [MS Dhoni] never seems to let his emotions get the better of him, which is a really good trait in a leader — as hard as I tried when I was on the field, I could never quite stay in complete control of my emotions,” Ponting added.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni will return to action after more than a year. He last appeared during the ICC World Cup 2019 in England and since then has been on a sabbatical.
