Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh pulled off a brilliant catch to dismiss India’s Shubman Gill in the second ODI at Adelaide on Thursday, October 23. Gill managed just nine runs off as many balls, with India losing their first wicket at 17. The breakthrough came in the seventh over, with Xavier Bartlett delivering the ball.

Gill stepped down the pitch to meet it, attempting a shot in the air towards mid-off. Marsh reacted instantly, diving full stretch to his right and completing a spectacular catch. You can watch the video here:

In the first ODI against Australia in Perth, Shubman Gill had scored only 10 runs from 18 balls. India went on to lose the match by seven wickets, falling 0-1 in the three-match series. This game also marked Gill’s debut as India’s captain in the 50-over format.

Bartlett Bags Both Gill And Kohli In A Single Over Of 2nd ODI

Xavier Bartlett struck early in the second ODI, dismissing both Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli to give Australia a commanding start against India, leaving the visitors under immediate pressure. Following Gill’s departure, Kohli was trapped plumb lbw, falling for another duck in the series and intensifying India’s uphill task. India are now in a do-or-die situation to stay in the contest and keep their hopes alive.

At the time, India were 23/2 after 8.2 overs, with Rohit Sharma (12 off 35) and Shreyas Iyer (0 off 1) at the crease, tasked with rescuing the innings and stabilizing the team. Interestingly, India remain unbeaten in their last five ODIs at this venue, including a hard-fought tie against Sri Lanka.

India are aiming for their first series win in Australia since 2018/19 and will be eager to maintain their strong record at the ground to level the series 1-1 and restore confidence.
