BCCI Provides Update On Nitish Kumar Reddy Missing 3rd ODI vs Australia 2025
Nitish Kumar Reddy

Nitish Kumar Reddy was left out of India’s playing XI for the third ODI against Australia in Sydney on Saturday, October 25, with Kuldeep Yadav coming in as his replacement. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) provided an update on his injury, revealing that the 22-year-old had suffered a left quadriceps strain during the second ODI in Adelaide.

The team’s medical staff continue to monitor his recovery. In a statement posted on X after the toss, the BCCI said:

“Nitish Kumar R eddy sustained a left quadriceps injury during the second ODI in Adelaide and was subsequently unavailable for selection for the third ODI. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring him on a daily basis.”

Nitish Kumar Reddy had a promising start to his ODI career, hitting a quick 19* off 11 balls in India’s series opener against Australia. However, he managed just eight runs in the second match. With the ball, he conceded 16 and 24 runs in 2.1 and 3 overs, respectively, without taking a wicket.

Reddy has been included in India’s upcoming five-match T20I series, and the reigning T20 World Cup champions will be eager to have the all-rounder fully fit ahead of the series opener in Canberra on Wednesday, October 29.

India Make Two Changes, Nitish Kumar Reddy Out For 3rd ODI vs Australia

The Shubman Gill-led India made two changes for the third ODI after losing their third consecutive toss to Australia in the series. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Arshdeep Singh were replaced by Kuldeep Yadav and Prasidh Krishna, respectively. Having already lost the three-match series 0-2, Team India will be aiming for a consolation win to end on a positive note.

On the other hand, Australia, led by Mitchell Marsh, made a single change, with Nathan Ellis coming in for Xavier Bartlett. The ODI World Champions secured victories in the first two matches by seven wickets (DLS method) and two wickets. They will now look to complete a 3-0 series sweep against India.
