Team India Standout Named DSP After Stellar Performances In The 2025 Women’s World Cup.

Team India star Richa Ghosh has been appointed as the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in West Bengal in recognition of her outstanding performance at the 2025 Women’s World Cup. Playing a crucial role in India’s historic triumph, Richa helped the Women in Blue secure their maiden ICC trophy with a 52-run win over South Africa in the final.

She was felicitated by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) during a ceremony held at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday, November 8, where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee personally handed her the appointment letter.

As reported by India Today, the star wicketkeeper-batter was also honoured with the prestigious Banga Bhushan award from the state government. In addition, she received a golden bat and ball, a gold chain, and a cash reward of ₹34 lakh in recognition of her remarkable contribution to Indian cricket.

Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee applauded the entire Indian team for their outstanding accomplishment and commended the girls of Bengal for their success across multiple sports. However, she emphasized that Richa should not be subjected to excessive pressure in the future.

“Richa has just begun her journey. I want our girls to always be on top. Our Bengal girls have done well in football, swimming, and archery. I believe our archers will bring home an Olympic medal. I expect great things from Richa Ghosh, but we will not put any pressure on her,” she was quoted as saying by India Today.
