Team India celebrated young batting star Tilak Varma’s 23rd birthday in a cheerful and lively manner after the T20I series against Australia. The series consisted of five matches played Down Under, concluding on November 8. Tilak’s IPL franchise, Mumbai Indians (MI), captured the fun-filled celebration and shared it on Instagram, giving fans a glimpse of the team’s joyous moment. The video showed not just the players but also the support staff joining in the birthday fun.

Tilak, full of energy, took off his practice jersey to reveal his abs, which was followed by a playful act from skipper Suryakumar Yadav, who poured milkshake on his hair while others smeared cake all over his face. Tilak even performed some bhangra moves before his face was smashed into another cake, making it a truly memorable celebration. The moment turned even funnier when Suryakumar joked, “Isse tera baal aur accha hoga bol raha hu (Your hair will become better because of this I am telling you).”

India Clinch The Series Despite Rain

The fifth T20I between India and Australia was washed out due to persistent rain on November 8, which led to India sealing the series 2-1. The first match had also been abandoned due to bad weather, while Australia managed to win the second game.

However, India bounced back strongly to claim victories in the next two matches, ensuring a well-deserved series win. Even though the final match could not be played, the team’s spirits remained high, as reflected in the joyful celebration of Tilak’s birthday.

Tilak Varma’s Rising International Journey

In the T20I series against Australia, Tilak Varma batted in three innings and scored 34 runs. Though he didn’t deliver a standout performance in this series, his overall progress in international cricket has been remarkable. His recent heroics in the Asia Cup 2025 earned him much praise, where he scored a match-winning 69 not out in the final against Pakistan.

Across six innings in that tournament, he amassed 213 runs at an impressive average of 71 and a strike rate of 131.48. Since making his T20I debut in 2023 against the West Indies, Tilak has represented India in 36 matches, scoring 996 runs in 33 innings with an average of 47.42 and a strike rate of 146.68. His tally includes two centuries and four fifties. He has also featured in four ODIs, debuting against Bangladesh in 2023, scoring 68 runs with one half-century, marking a promising start to his international career.
