NPL 2025: Biratnagar Kings Make Record Score To Defeat Pokhara Avengers By 53 Runs
Biratnagar Kings

The Biratnagar Kings performed a batting miracle and left the Pokhara Avengers far behind with a 53-run score in the NPL match that set the record! Choosing to bat first, they turned the match into a spectacle with an incredible run of 220/6 in 20 overs – the highest team total ever in NPL history!

This gigantic score not only set a new record but also gave Biratnagar the honor of being the first to cross the 200-run barrier. Their batting line-up was simply too good, with power-packed innings that made the Avengers look like they were out of the game. Is it going to be Biratnagar’s turn to be the champion?

Biratnagar Kings’ batting lineup proved unrelenting:

The Biratnagar Kings made a grand entrance at the NPL 2025 by simply wiping the floor with the competition—literally, they went on to set the tournament record for the highest score by a whopping 220 runs, and the Pokhara Avengers were left speechless. This was not just a normal big score; it was a landmark. No franchise in NPL’s past had even managed to reach 200 runs, and Biratnagar tore down that wall. The destruction was done through an astounding partnership between Lokesh Bam and Martin Guptill, who together scored a whopping 132 runs.

Bam was the most aggressive among the two, scoring 72 runs off 30 balls with seven sixes; the experienced Guptill scored 61 runs off 35 balls with five sixes. The innings was completed by Ranjane with a brisk 38 runs from 16 balls. The bowlers from Pokhara were totally ineffective and allowed batsmen to hit as many as 17 sixes altogether, which is a lot more than their target of 221 runs.

Sandeep Lamichhane, the kingpin of spin for Biratnagar, first created and then thoroughly exploited this weakness. Adam Rossington and the captain of Pokhara, Kushal Bhurtel, were the ones to start nicely the chase of 221 runs. The match was still hanging in the balance but Lamichhane’s magic changed it drastically. He got rid of two batsmen in the same over and without scoring a single run from them—the over was a disaster for Pokhara and it was the beginning of a total collapse.

Lamichhane’s two-wicket haul was the biggest contributor to Pokhara’s loss of only 53 runs, but he could not be the only reason for the downfall of the batters, as they had crumbled to 167 all out and besides Lamichhane’s 2 wickets, Bhurtel’s courageous 59 went in vain. In fact, his bowling comrades complemented him really well and each of them collected 2 wickets as well thereby clinching a commanding win, stamping Biratnagar’s claim as true contenders for the trophy.
