In a thrilling encounter at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha, the semi-final of the ACC Men’s Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025 match between India A and Bangladesh A turned into a classic. Bangladesh A chased down India A’s score via a Super Over after both teams finished on 194/6 in regulation overs.

India A, led by promising young players, had looked on course but finally lost in dramatic fashion when they failed to score in the Super Over while Bangladesh A managed to eke out the single extra run needed via a wide. The contest produced edge-of-your-seat drama and will be remembered for the way both sides fought until the final delivery.

Ashwin’s Reaction: A Match for the Ages

Former spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, observing the match, took to X (formerly Twitter) to issue a glowing endorsement of the fixture. He wrote:

“In case you missed out on the India A vs Ban A game from yesterday evening, please don’t miss it. It will stand the test of time.”

His message captured the strong sentiment that this was not just another youth game, but one that will be referenced, replayed and talked about for a long time.

The phrase “stand the test of time” in his message communicates that the match transcended normal competitive boundaries and entered the realm of extraordinary contests. His public call to fans underscores that the contest offered something rare: compelling drama, high stakes, and skill executed under pressure.

Promising Performances & The Turning Points

India A’s innings featured a blistering start thanks to Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s 38 off 15 balls, taking the team quickly to 53/1 in under four overs. Then Priyansh Arya (44) and Jitesh Sharma (33) chipped in to keep the chase alive, while Nehal Wadhera’s 32 took them closer to what looked like a winning path.

But Bangladesh’s fielding lapse in the final over – a misfield allowed Harsh Dubey to take three runs and tie the match – forced the Super Over. In the Super Over, India A were undone swiftly: Jitesh Sharma was yorked on the first ball by Ripon Mondol, then Ashutosh Sharma’s attempted loft was caught, leaving India A scoreless.

Bangladesh A, needing one run, tied down the first ball but then won via a leg-side wide on the next. The momentum shifts, the clutch performances, and the final missteps combined to make this a match that justified Ashwin’s praise.
