[WATCH]- Ryan Rickelton Pulls Off Brilliant Catch To Dismiss Sai Sudharsan For 15 In IND Vs SA 2nd Test 2025

Team India batter Sai Sudharsan had a quiet return to the No.3 position, scoring just 15 runs in the first innings of the second Test against South Africa. His innings ended when Ryan Rickelton took a spectacular catch during the closing stages of the first session on Day 3 at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

Sudharsan faced a challenging spell of spin as the Proteas bowlers gained rhythm, with the pitch starting to offer assistance after two largely uneventful days. Returning to the side after missing the series opener in Kolkata, the left-hander began cautiously, displaying control with an assured early cover drive off Simon Harmer.

In the 35th over, Harmer bowled a shorter delivery, a half-tracker, which tempted Sudharsan into attempting a powerful pull shot. Although he connected with strength, the shot lacked elevation, sending the ball straight toward the midwicket fielder.

Ryan Rickelton reacted swiftly, managing to stop the ball, but the momentum caused it to slip briefly from his hands. Showing remarkable composure, he recovered instantly and secured the catch just before it touched the ground. You can watch the video here:

India Lose Four Wickets Early As Jurel Follows Sudharsan In 2nd Test

Chasing South Africa’s imposing first-innings total of 489, the hosts found themselves in a tricky position after a disappointing end to the first session before the Tea Break. India had looked comfortable at 95-1 in the 33rd over, but a sudden collapse saw them lose three wickets, closing the session at 102-4.

Following Sai Sudharsan’s departure, Dhruv Jurel also fell cheaply, dismissed for a duck off 11 balls. Batting at No.4 in place of Shubman Gill, the wicket-keeper tried to play an aggressive pull shot off Marco Jansen just before Tea, only to throw his wicket away.
