
More than a thousand cricketers have put their names forward for the IPL mini-auction, with prominent Indian contenders including Mayank Agarwal, KS Bharat, Rahul Chahar, Ravi Bishnoi, Akash Deep, Deepak Hooda, Venkatesh Iyer, Sarfaraz Khan, Shivam Mavi, Navdeep Saini, Chetan Sakariya, Kuldeep Sen, Prithvi Shaw, Rahul Tripathi, Sandeep Warrier and Umesh Yadav.
The one-day auction is scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi on December 16. According to the auction register accessed by Cricbuzz, a total of 1,355 players have signed up, with several big international names from England, Australia and South Africa listed across the 13-page document.
Australian stars Cameron Green, Matthew Short and Steve Smith lead the group seeking IPL deals, while Josh Inglis has also registered despite uncertainty around his availability due to his wedding. The extensive list additionally includes Jamie Smith and Jonny Bairstow from England, New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra, and Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga and Matheesha Pathirana, among others.
Maxwell missing as Bishnoi, Iyer lead ₹2 crore bracket with 43 overseas players
Notably, Glenn Maxwell, released by Punjab Kings after IPL 2025, has not registered. Among Indian players, only Ravi Bishnoi and Venkatesh Iyer have placed themselves in the highest base bracket of INR 2 crore. In total, 43 overseas players have registered in the INR 2 crore category, including:
Green, Steve Smith, Jamie Smith, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Naveen-ul-Haq, Sean Abbott, Aston Agar, Cooper Connolly, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Inglis, Mustafizur Rahman, Gus Atkinson, Tom Banton, Tom Curran, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Daniel Lawrence, Liam Livingstone, Daryl Mitchell, Rachin Ravindra, Michael Bracewell, Gerald Coetzee, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Matheesha Pathirana, Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga.
Shakib Al Hasan, a seasoned IPL campaigner with 71 appearances over nine seasons, has placed himself in the INR 1 crore base-price category. The list also features New Zealand leg-spinner Adithya Ashok with a reserve price of ₹75 lakh. Meanwhile, Shai Hope, Akeal Hosein and Alzarri Joseph headline the highest bracket with a base price of INR 2 crore.
Overall, overseas registrations come from 14 nations, including Afghanistan, Australia, England, Bangladesh, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Zimbabwe, the Netherlands, Scotland and the USA. Interestingly, the spreadsheet also features a Malaysian cricketer, India-born all-rounder Virandeep Singh, who has entered the auction with a base price of ₹30 lakh.
Following the completion of player retentions on November 15, the 10 IPL teams now have a combined auction budget of INR 237.55 crore. Kolkata Knight Riders enter the Abu Dhabi auction with the highest remaining purse of INR 64.30 crore, while Chennai Super Kings follow with INR 43.40 crore in available funds. Across all franchises, a total of 77 squad spots, including 31 for overseas players, are up for grabs.
