
Veteran Indian batter Virat Kohli is understood to have confirmed his availability for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025–26. The tournament is scheduled from December 24 to January 18, with Delhi opening their campaign against Andhra on the first day at the KSCA Cricket Ground in Alur.
Despite his confirmation, it is still unclear whether the 37-year-old will feature in all seven league fixtures, which conclude on January 8, just three days before India begin their three-match ODI series against New Zealand on January 11 in Vadodara.
As per IANS, Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) president Rohan Jaitley has confirmed that Kohli will be part of the domestic tournament, saying:
“Virat Kohli has confirmed his availability for the Vijay Hazare Trophy to us.”
The right-handed batter has earlier represented Delhi in 13 Vijay Hazare Trophy games between 2008 and 2010, scoring 819 runs at a remarkable average of 68.25 and a strike rate of 106.08. In that span, he registered four hundreds and three fifties, with his highest score being 124.
Virat Kohli Smashes 135 Off 120 In 1st ODI Against South Africa
Virat Kohli last appeared in the opening ODI of the three-match series against South Africa, played on Sunday, November 30 in Ranchi. The Delhi-born batter was outstanding for the home side, scoring 135 runs off 120 balls which was his 52nd ODI century. His knock included 11 fours and seven sixes, helping India reach a total of 349.
In the second innings, Kuldeep Yadav played a key role with four wickets, guiding India to a 17-run win. The 37-year-old is set to return for the second ODI on Wednesday, December 3 at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Raipur. Kohli will look to make another solid contribution as India aim to clinch the series with one match still remaining.
He continues to be the second-highest run-scorer in ODI cricket, with 14,390 runs from 306 matches at an average of 58.02, including 52 centuries and 75 half-centuries.
