Supporters gathered in massive numbers outside Cuttack’s Barabati Stadium to purchase tickets for the opening T20I between India and South Africa. After the Test and ODI series, the Men in Blue are set to face the Proteas in a five-match T20I contest, with the first match scheduled for Tuesday, December 9.
Before the game, chaos erupted outside the stadium. A video shared by an X user showed an enormous crowd queued up as offline ticket sales started on Friday, December 5. The line stretched far, and fans were seen pushing and shouting as they rushed towards the counters when the sale opened for the general public.
Some spectators were even spotted sprinting from the back and squeezing through gaps in the crowd, forcefully pushing their way to the front. You can watch the video here:

Barabati Stadium last staged an international fixture in February this year, hosting the second ODI between India and England, which the Men in Blue won by four wickets. After the series opener, the second T20I is scheduled in New Chandigarh on December 11, followed by the third match in Dharamsala on December 14.
Lucknow will host the fourth T20I on December 17, and the series finale is set for December 19 in Ahmedabad.
What was the result of the last IND vs SA T20I at Barabati Stadium?
India and South Africa last faced off in a T20I at Barabati Stadium during the Proteas’ 2022 tour, in the second match of that series. Batting first, India put up a competitive 148/6, with Shreyas Iyer leading the scoring with a 35-ball 40, supported by Ishan Kishan (34) and Dinesh Karthik (30*).
Despite the effort, the score proved insufficient as South Africa chased it down in 18.2 overs with four wickets in hand. India started strongly, reducing the tourists to 29/3 during the powerplay, but Temba Bavuma (35) and Heinrich Klaasen steadied the innings.
Klaasen then took charge with a decisive 81 off 46 deliveries, while David Miller stayed unbeaten with 20 off 15. Bhuvneshwar Kumar claimed four wickets, but his performance went in vain.
