Morne Morkel Praises India’s Bowlers After Stunning Turnaround Against South Africa

India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel shared his satisfaction with the way the team’s bowlers recovered following a difficult outing in the second T20 International against South Africa. After conceding a heavy total of 213 runs, including a surprisingly high number of extras, India had suffered a significant loss in that contest.  However, in the very next game — the third T20I — the Indian bowling unit delivered a dramatically improved performance.

They restricted South Africa to just 117 runs, demonstrating discipline, intensity and tactical execution that had been missing previously. This collective effort was pivotal in India securing a convincing seven-wicket victory, which put them ahead 2-1 in the five-match series.

Morkel’s Take on the Team’s Mentality

Reflecting on the turnaround, Morkel emphasized his contentment with the attitude and resilience shown by the bowlers. In a video shared by BCCI’s official channels, he summed up his feelings plainly: “I am just happy how the boys bounced back.”

His words highlighted not just satisfaction with the result, but a deeper appreciation for the mental strength the players showed in recovering from a tough loss. It was a quality performance that suggested the team had taken lessons from their mistakes and responded with focus and determination.

Despite the improved outcome, India’s bowling attack had faced some challenges within the unit. Key pacers Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana played crucial roles in the third T20I with two wickets each in tight spells, helping to choke the opposition’s run flow and apply pressure.

Arshdeep himself joked light-heartedly about his earlier struggles — particularly bowling wides in the previous match — quipping that the camera had been “panning to the coach … very often as if he had given some faulty plan.”  His humour underlined the team’s positive dressing room atmosphere even amid high expectations.

Team Spirit and Momentum

The bounce-back performance was not just about numbers; it also spoke to the collective resilience of India’s bowling group. Players supported one another, shared accountability, and maintained belief even after a difficult outing.

Such unity and adaptability will be crucial as the series progresses and India looks to build on this momentum. Morne Morkel’s satisfaction with the recovery serves as a reminder of how crucial mental toughness and team spirit are in the fast-paced and unpredictable format of T20 cricket.
